Turkish Internet Media Union (TİMBİR), which houses 104 founders and 987 media institutions and was founded by the enactment numbered 6906 dated 7 March 2023 by the Presidency, had its first Ordinary General Assembly in Ankara Chamber of Trade’s council chamber.

Şanlıurfa Deputy Abdülkadir Emin Önen, Rize Deputy Advocate Harun Mertoğlu, Tekirdağ Deputy Cem Avşar, Turkish City Councils Union and Ankara City Council President Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, 27th period Ankara Deputy Nevzat Ceylan, 24th period İzmir Deputy Rıfat Sait, AKP 25th and 26th period Zonguldak Deputy and AKP Central Administration Ethics Council member Hüseyin Özbakır and an expert in the Presidency, his wife Deniz Özbakır, TİMBİR President Dr. Süleyman Basa, Birlik News Agency President Muhammet Kaçar and TİMBİR members from 81 provinces and 14 nations attended the General Assembly.

Dr. Süleyman Basa, which spoke on the general assembly managed by TİMBİR manager Advocate Cüneyt Altıparmak, expressed his gratitude for the attendance of the members. Emphasizing the importance of gathering together for the reinforcement and improvement of the Turkish internet media, Dr. Basa thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the enactment.

MERTOĞLU: WE ARE WITH THE INTERNET MEDIA.

AKP Rize Deputy Advocate Harun Mertoğlu, pointed to the fact that the İnternet is in every aspect of our lives and that it’s evolving rapidly.
Mertoğlu, emphasizing that he follows the works of TİMBİR closely, stated that they are with the İnternet media, and will be supporting the things that need to be made in the parliament.

“We gathered here to realise the first general assembly of TİMBİR, which was founded with great effort. I followed all the efforts and honest endeavours ever since the founding process very closely. My friends and companions among you, they shared with me the idea, process, and ongoing efforts of the establishment of TİMBİR. In this context, I congratulate all of you through its founding President, Süleyman Basa. The formation of this union has been realized with the approval of our President, which holds a separate value and responsibility. Having a platform that will actively operate in the field of internet media is crucial for both our country and internationally operating Turkish-language news websites," he said.

Tekirdağ Deputy Cem Avşar also congratulated the management and members of TİMBİR, who are working in the field of internet media and expressed their support in addressing the issues faced by internet media in the parliament.

Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, the President of the Turkey City Councils Union and the Ankara City Council, stated that he closely follows the work of TİMBİR and always strives to provide support. Yılmaz emphasized the importance of the unity and organization of the internet media within TİMBİR, stating that internet media plays a significant role in bringing social issues to the forefront and pushing for measures to be taken in various areas.

BNA (Birlik News Agency) WAS ANNOUNCED.

During the General Assembly of TİMBİR, the activities and goals of the Birlik News Agency were announced. Muhammet Kaçar, the General Manager of BNA, made a presentation to TİMBİR members. He highlighted that BNA delivers up-to-date, political, economic, cultural, artistic, and sports news, as well as breaking developments, from the 81 provinces and their districts of Turkey, and through their correspondents in foreign representations. They prioritize accurate, fast, unbiased, and public-interest-oriented journalism, respecting human dignity and societal values, while disseminating news to member organizations engaged in internet news publishing. Kaçar emphasized that BNA aims to transmit national and international developments to member publishing institutions while striving to prevent the spread of disinformation and misinformation intentionally circulated on social media. He further stated that their agency, which aims to provide the necessary news content for local, regional, and national internet publishing in Turkey, is primarily focused on promoting public interest, humanitarian values and publishing unifying and informative content.
