Metropolitan Municipality hosted another giant cup in cycling, which is closely followed by the world. The world's best 50 athletes competed in the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup and the champions were announced. The races, where great excitement and competition took place in the Sunflower Bicycle Valley, were followed live in Turkey and in different countries around the world. Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Yüce presented the medals in the races held in Sakarya, the City of Cycling, in a festive atmosphere.
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality hosted another giant cup closely followed by the world in cycling. On May 17th, the excitement of Bike Fest, which started in Sakarya, continued with the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup in the Sunflower Bicycle Valley. The 7th international race was held on the 5th day of Bike Fest, which will continue until June 11. The master names of the world pedaled, and the Metropolitan Municipality distributed 10 bicycles by lottery at the Bike Fest.

50 athletes from 17 countries

50 athletes from 17 countries competed fiercely in the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup, one of the most important races of cycling sport, which witnessed great enthusiasm and competition. In the Eliminator races held against time on a 700-meter short course full of challenging obstacles in the Sunflower Bicycle Valley, the world's masters of the world competed in qualifiers, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals.

Last champions pedaled

The Eliminator World Cup, the most prestigious mountain bike race, was contested by Italian Gala Tormena, the women's champion in Spain in 2022, and Frenchman Titouan Ganier in the men's race. The defending champions participated in the races wearing their rainbow champion jerseys.

While a large number of sports fans from Sakarya followed the elimination races where 30 elite men and 20 elite women competed fiercely, TRT Spor Yıldız screens broadcast the race live. MTB Cup Eliminator races, one of the world's most prestigious races in cycling sports, were broadcast live from different parts of the world.

Metropolitan racers in top 8

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Pro Team athletes also competed in the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup. Metropolitan's successful athletes Furkan Akçam and Emre Yuca made it to the semi-finals. As a result of the semi-final races, Furkan Akçam finished the qualifiers in 8th place and Emre Yuca in 7th place and became the pride of Sakarya.

World Cup podium holders announced

The final stage of the MTB Cup World Cup Eliminator races witnessed great excitement. German Marion Fromberger finished first in the final stage of the women's final stage, which offered a side by side struggle to the audience. Dutch Annemoon van Dienst crossed the finish line second and Dutch Didi de Vries third. Italian Gaia Tormena, the defending women's champion, finished fourth.

In the men's event, French Titouan Ganier, the last world champion, did not allow any surprises in the qualifiers and finished first in the qualifiers. German athlete Simon Gegenheimer finished second and Frenchman Quentin Schrotzenberger finished third.

Grand final in Indonesia

While Sakarya hosts the MTB Cup Eliminator races, the first stage of the world cup, the world cup races, which consist of 6 different stages including Spain, Belgium, Germany, France, will end with the grand final to be held in Indonesia on October 10-15.
