Farmers have started the hard work of planting paddy for Tosya rice, which is grown in Tosya district and has a register certificate of geographical indication. 8 thousand acres of paddy is expected to be grown in the area is expected to get high yields.

The 120-day marathon of tosya rice with register certificate of geographical indication, which is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to rice in Turkey and which is the economic leader of the district in Kastamonu's Tosya district, has started with planting preparations. At the beginning of the planting season, the processed soil is brought together with water.

Tosya Chamber of Agriculture President Kadri Eken, who stated that they expect to plant approximately 8 thousand acres of land in the district, explained the stages of paddy planting: "Paddy season has started. We have also started to make 'kesan'. We are making preparations for paddy planting. The process we are doing today is the kesan process, that is, leveling the field. The meaning of kesan is that the soil is leveled and retains water at the same rate. The next stage is the seed stage. We will sow the seed that we leave to root. The third stage is the spraying stage, we will spray against weeds. After 10 days we will apply fertilizer. Then we will continue with irrigation. We will wait for the season, the harvest period. Hopefully the harvest period will start around the 20th of September. I wish our farmers to have an abundant and profitable harvest period. This year, we distributed a total of 55 tons of 'efe' and 'yatkın' variety paddy seeds in cooperation with Tosya District Governorship, District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Tosya Chamber of Agriculture."
